eSIM Compatible Phones & Devices | 300+ Models (2026)

Check if your phone, tablet, laptop, or watch supports eSIM in 30 seconds — browse 300+ models from Apple, Samsung, Google Pixel and more, or search your device below. Roami eSIMs work in 200+ countries.

Last Updated:

Short answer: every iPhone from the XR and XS (2018) onward is eSIM compatible, as is every Galaxy S20 or newer (international models), every Google Pixel from the 3 onward, and most mid-range Androids sold from 2024. What actually decides it is not the brand — it is the model number, the region the phone was sold in, and whether it is carrier-locked.

Dial *#06#. If a 32-digit EID appears, your phone has eSIM hardware and almost any travel eSIM will install. If you only see IMEI numbers, it does not — and no app, software update, or carrier setting will add it.

How we verify this list

Compatibility is compiled from official manufacturer specifications and carrier documentation, then cross-checked against real-world user reports. eSIM support can still vary by region, carrier, and software version — so always confirm by dialing *#06# and looking for an EID number before you buy.

Popular eSIM destinations:

What "eSIM compatible" actually means

A phone is eSIM compatible when it has an eUICC — a small soldered chip that stores SIM profiles in software instead of on a plastic card. That chip is what the GSMA’s SGP.22 standard calls a remotely provisioned SIM, and its serial number is the EID you see when you dial *#06#.

eSIM compatibility is a hardware fact, not a carrier feature. If the eUICC is present and the phone is unlocked, any provider that follows the same GSMA standard — Roami, Airalo, Holafly, or a local carrier — can push a profile to it. If the chip is missing, no provider can. That distinction explains most of the confusion around the phrase: people search for “eSIM compatible phones” expecting a carrier list, but the carrier only controls the second half of the question (whether it will issue you an eSIM), not the first (whether the hardware exists).

Three things decide whether a specific handset is eSIM capable:

  • The model number. SM-S918B (international Galaxy S23 Ultra) has eSIM; SM-S9180 (China / Hong Kong) does not. Same phone name, different hardware.
  • The region it was sold in. Mainland-China iPhones have no eSIM chip in any generation. Japanese carrier models are sometimes firmware-restricted. US models of the Galaxy S20 lost eSIM to a firmware decision.
  • The lock status. A carrier-locked phone is hardware-compatible but will refuse a travel eSIM until it is unlocked.

Put differently: eSIM phone compatibility is a yes/no question you can answer in ten seconds — but the answer depends on the exact unit in your hand, not on the marketing name on the box.

The wording changes, the question doesn’t. Whether you are looking for phones compatible with eSIM, browsing a list of phones that are eSIM compatible, checking eSIM capable phones in a shop, or reading a carrier’s eSIM eligible devices page, every one of those phrases comes down to the same eUICC check — and eSIM enabled devices are simply the ones that pass it.

Is my phone eSIM compatible? How to read the result

The check itself takes seconds — the value is in interpreting what you see. Is my phone eSIM compatible is really three separate questions, and they have three different fixes.

  • No EID, only IMEI. The eUICC is absent. Nothing can be installed, and the phone cannot be made compatible — plan around it.
  • EID present (32 digits, usually starting with 89), menu missing. The hardware is there but the firmware or carrier flag is hiding it. Update the OS, then re-check before assuming a hardware fault.
  • EID present, Add eSIM greyed out. Hardware-compatible and carrier-locked. The fix is an unlock request, not a new phone.
What you seeWhat it meansWhat to do
EID plus IMEI numberseSIM hardware presentBuy a plan — but confirm the phone is unlocked first
IMEI only, no EIDNot eSIM compatibleUse a physical travel SIM or pocket Wi-Fi
Add eSIM greyed outCompatible but carrier-lockedRequest an unlock from your carrier
EID present but install failsCompatibility is fine — the profile or network is the problemRetry on stable Wi-Fi, or request a fresh QR code

This is why “does my phone support eSIM” and “is my phone eSIM compatible” have the same answer: both are asking about the eUICC, and the EID is its receipt.

eSIM compatible phones by brand (October 2026)

If you want a list of eSIM compatible phones short enough to remember, it is this: Apple since 2018, Samsung flagships since 2020, Google since 2018, and everyone else somewhere between 2021 and 2024.

Whichever phrasing brought you here — eSIM compatible Samsung phones, Motorola eSIM compatible phones, eSIM compatible Android phones, eSIM compatible Apple devices, or the full eSIM supported devices list — the same three rules apply: model number, region, lock status.

BrandeSIM compatible fromModels people wrongly assume work
AppleiPhone XR, XS, XS Max (2018) and every iPhone since — including SE 2020 / 2022, 16e and 17iPhone 8, 8 Plus, X and anything older — no eSIM hardware
SamsungGalaxy S20 (international), S21–S26, Note 20 Ultra (Exynos), Z Fold2 / Z Flip3 onward, and A54 / A55 / A35 / A36 / A56 / A57 / A37 / A27 in supported regionsS20 FE, S20 US Snapdragon, A52, A52s, A51, A53, A32, A33, A71–A73, S10 and older
Google PixelPixel 3 and every Pixel since — including 6a, 7a, 8a and Pixel FoldPixel 2 and older; some Japanese carrier variants
MotorolaMoto G Power 5G (2024+), Moto G Stylus 5G (2024+), Edge series, Razr foldablesOlder Moto G Power (2020–2023) and most Moto E models
Xiaomi12T Pro, 13 / 13T / 14 / 15 series, selected Redmi Note and Poco modelsMost Redmi A-series, older Poco models, China-market units
OnePlusOnePlus 11 and newer, plus OnePlus Open7T, 8T, 9 and Nord 2 — no eUICC
HuaweiMate 20 Pro, P30 Pro, P40 / P40 Pro, Mate 40 Pro, Pura 70 (international units)P30 Lite and most nova models
Oppo / VivoFind X3 and newer, Reno 5A and newer; Vivo X80 Pro and newerOppo A-series (including A74) and Vivo Y-series

Read that table as eSIM supported devices, not as every SKU of every model. The same name can land on both sides of the line depending on where it was sold — which is the subject of the next section.

Two patterns are worth internalising. First, 5G does not imply eSIM: the Galaxy A15 5G and A16 5G have 5G modems and no eUICC. Second, price is a rough proxy but a bad rule — a budget Moto G Power is eSIM capable, while a Galaxy A54 bought in the wrong region may not be.

The same phone can be compatible in one country and not another

This is the part most eSIM compatibility lists leave out, and it is the reason people buy a plan and then discover the “Add eSIM” menu does not exist. Manufacturers ship region-specific hardware and firmware under one marketing name.

Where the phone came fromWhat changesVerdict
Mainland China — iPhone model ending CH/A, Samsung 0 suffixeSIM chip removed; dual physical SIM insteadNot compatible, no fix
Hong Kong / MacauMixed: some units have eSIM, some are dual physical SIMCheck the EID before buying
USA — iPhone 14 and laterNo physical SIM tray at all: eSIM onlyCompatible, but there is no plastic fallback
USA — Galaxy S20 / Note 20 (Snapdragon)eSIM disabled in firmwareNot compatible
Japan — carrier models (SC- and SM- variants)Firmware restrictions on some older flagshipsUsually compatible on S21 and newer — verify
Europe / UK / India / KoreaFull eSIM on flagshipsCompatible

Samsung encodes this in the CSC code and the model suffix; Apple encodes it in the part number. If you are buying used, ask for a photo of Settings > General > About (iPhone) or Settings > About Phone (Samsung) before you pay — the EID line settles it faster than any spec sheet.

Carrier compatibility: Verizon, T-Mobile, Visible, Google Fi, Jio

A carrier’s eSIM compatibility list answers a different question from the one above: not “does my phone have the chip” but “will this carrier activate an eSIM on it”. The two are related but not identical, and carrier lists change far more often than hardware does.

CarrierTypical eSIM supportWhat to check
VerizoniPhone XR and newer; Pixel 4 and newer; recent Galaxy flagshipsVerizon’s IMEI checker — some unlocked Androids are rejected even with an EID
T-MobileThe broadest Android support of the US carriersWorks with most unlocked eSIM phones; prepaid lines must be active first
AT&TiPhone XR and newer; a shorter Android listThe strictest of the three on non-Samsung Android
VisibleiPhone XR and newer; a limited Android listVisible eSIM compatible phones are mostly iPhones — check before porting
Google FiPixel 4 and newer; iPhone on recent iOSFi issues the eSIM in-app; the phone must be unlocked
US MobileiPhone XR and newer; Pixel 4 and newer; Galaxy S21 and newerUS Mobile eSIM compatible devices split by network (Warp vs GSM)
Jio (India)iPhone XR and newer; Galaxy S20 and newer; Pixel 3 and newerJio eSIM compatibility is activated from the Jio app by SMS
Vodafone / MTNFlagships from 2020 onward in most marketsVodafone eSIM compatible phones vary by country; MTN eSIM is live in South Africa and Nigeria only

The pattern: carrier eSIM compatibility is a business decision layered on top of a hardware capability. If your phone has an EID but your carrier will not activate it, the hardware is not the problem — switch carriers, or use a travel eSIM for data and keep the line for calls.

Airalo, Holafly and other travel eSIM providers

Travel providers publish “compatible phones” pages too, and they are worth reading differently again. Airalo compatible phones, Holafly compatible phones and every other GSMA-based provider ultimately require the same three things: an eUICC, an unlocked handset, and a recent enough OS for their app.

ProviderWhat its compatibility list really checks
AiraloiPhone XR and newer, most Galaxy S20+ and Pixel 3+; Airalo phone compatibility is essentially the GSMA list plus an iOS / Android version floor
HolaflySame hardware list; Holafly eSIM compatible phones also need a recent enough iOS / Android version to run the app
RoamiSame hardware list; installation is by QR code or manual SM-DP+ entry, so there is no app version requirement

The practical upshot: if your phone is on the eSIM compatible phones list above and it is unlocked, it will work with any of them. Provider compatibility pages mostly exist to filter out phones that were never going to work — not to tell you which provider to choose.

If your phone is not eSIM compatible

A large share of phones still in daily use have no eUICC, and most of them are perfectly good devices. You have four options that do not involve replacing the phone before your trip.

  • Buy a physical travel SIM. Every major travel provider still ships plastic, and it works in any unlocked phone with a SIM tray.
  • Use pocket Wi-Fi or a local hotspot. One device, several phones, no compatibility question at all.
  • Keep the old phone as a hotspot. A retired eSIM-capable phone with a data plan can tether your current handset.
  • Upgrade deliberately. A used iPhone XR or a budget Moto G Power often costs less than a week of roaming, and both are on the eSIM compatible phone list above.

Frequently Asked Questions about eSIM Compatibility

How do I check if my phone supports eSIM?

The fastest way is to open your phone’s dialer and enter *#06#. If a 32-digit EID (eUICC ID) appears, your device has eSIM hardware. If you only see IMEI numbers, your phone does not support eSIM. You can also check Settings: iPhone → Settings > Cellular > Add eSIM; Android → Settings > Connections > SIM Manager > Add eSIM.

Which iPhone models support eSIM?

eSIM is supported on iPhone XR, XS, XS Max, and every newer model — iPhone 11, 11 Pro, 11 Pro Max, SE (2020 & 2022), and all models from iPhone 12 through iPhone 17. US iPhone 14 and later are eSIM-only. iPhone 8, 8 Plus, and iPhone X do NOT support eSIM. See our iPhone 11 eSIM guide for details.

Which Samsung Galaxy models support eSIM?

Galaxy S20, S21, S22, S23, S24, S25, and S26 series support eSIM in most regions, along with Z Fold and Z Flip series. Select A-series models (A35, A36, A54, A55, A56) support eSIM. The Galaxy S20 FE does NOT support eSIM, and US Snapdragon models often lack it. See our Samsung S20 eSIM guide.

Do Google Pixel phones support eSIM?

Yes. All Google Pixel models from Pixel 3 onwards support eSIM — Pixel 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10 series. Pixel 2 and older do not. Some Japanese carrier-locked variants may be restricted. See our Pixel 6 eSIM guide.

Which phones do NOT support eSIM?

iPhone 8, X, and older; Samsung Galaxy S10 and older plus the Galaxy S20 FE; Google Pixel 2 and older; and most phones released before 2018. Phones sold in mainland China and Hong Kong usually lack eSIM. Check the ❌ No eSIM Support section above for the full list.

Can I use eSIM on a laptop or tablet?
